In history, people enjoyed the crackling of firewood in their home fire, the sound of birds and Animals tweeting and chittering, the lapping of waves on a beach or trickling of water down a stream... This "ASMR" is nothing new, and is just a digital phase/craze version of things with recording sound bites of crunching crisps, scrunching crisp wrappers, thwapping a 30-cm ruler on a school desk, etc., which won't last for eternity. Before that, they had relaxing music/chill-out albums. I suppose it is easier and cheaper to record everyday sound effects for computer games and use them as "chill-out" and "calming" things. This sounds like autism, to be honest...
