I actually discovered the jos in about 2011, but because I thought the "church of satan" was legit, because it was a church, I went with it instead until 2017 when I left and got into the real deal.

I had very seriously researched the CoS. I too gravitated toward them as a "real" church. But I lost interest as soon as I discovered that they believed Satan was not a real being.

I stumbled across them when I was very young, and read their version of commandments, such as "the strong shall inherit the earth, while the weak will inherit the yoke" and some others, which I thought were very refreshing, so I took them in mind and adapted them into my beliefs. But I did not join them as I knew the Gods to be real, so I was my own version of a magick-practicing pagan. I wasn't wiccan as the 3-fold law felt incorrect to me, so I was my own thing until I found the JoS, lol.

I have always thought of a spirituality and magic as long as I knew myself, so philosophical movements seem very materialistic to me, but laven satanism is very destructive and suffocating. Because I was interested in magic, I found wicca and even got to know Hecate through wicca, but things like the threefold law took me away from wicca, so they only had magic, nothing spiritual, so I was left in a vacuum and then I found spiritual satanism. Of course, when you say spiritual satanism in Turkey, 2 things come to mind 1. Joy of Satan 2. The belief established by someone named Bülent Kısa. The faith created by Bülent Kısa was like Christianity, they even had books called Jesus Book and they didn't have much contact with their gods and goddesses and they just accepted satan they were afraid of other gods and I saw people with similar thinking that they could do harm That's why I stayed away from the belief founded by Bülent Kısa and it seemed so unreasonable, so I found joy of satan and became devoted 4 months after I found it.
So, as I said, laven satanism is very destructive and suffocating to me.
