I have noticed that a lot of the LGBT groups have essentially turned into a mirror-image of the catholic church.

I have a book on hand called The Castrato which is extremely long and comprehensive on the history of this phenomena. The catholic church used to have special surgeons to castrate boys in Italy 'for their singing voice'. And then the typical misdirection happens: those people on twitter will yell that government is the problem, but the instant people like you or me point out that religion is the main problem and not the government, but also that religion is influencing the politicians, they'll complain and whinge at us, saying that religion should have nothing to do with politics. All their attention will be on holding governments and security accountable, but none of the Abrahamic religions get suspected of any connection to this.
