Hello. Lately I've been eating whenever I can (and whatever, by the way). It also happens that I only eat a little sweet for breakfast, and the next meal is only at night. But I had this before too... If I don't eat, I'll go hungry, then my hands will start shaking badly (I won't be able to draw a straight line on a sheet of paper at all), I'll start sweating, I'll start shaking ALL OVER (my whole body), and I'll start to freeze "from the inside" (as if the cold is inside me, not outside). I was told that this is a drop in blood sugar. And this is diabetes... My grandmother suffers from diabetes. My great-grandmother also suffered from it. There are other relatives who suffered from it... Am I developing diabetes? It's not fatal yet, it still didn't become something scary, but even now I can hardly hit the right keys - my hands are shaking so badly... Please answer.
Thank you.

This is urgent, you need to see a doctor about this.

A blood sugar problem is not necessarily diabetes. There are other problems that are not as bad as diabetes that also can cause a blood sugar problem.

It could be hypoglycemia, not diabetes. Diabetes is when the pancreas cannot produce insulin which then causes blood sugar to rise, not fall. Hypoglycemia (not hyperglycemia) is when the body has low blood sugar.

Diabetic reactions from taking too much insulin then not eating well will cause blood sugar to lower drastically, then causing hypoglycemia; but this is different from having hypoglycemia on its own.

Look up "severe non-reactionary hypoglycemia", and make sure to eat regular meals. If you're short on time then take a spoonful of honey to stabilize you until you can eat. Also look into magnesium supplements, as hypoglycemia is often caused from being deficient in magnesium.

And get tested, because if it is diabetes (which it could be, from your family history), then you will need to start treating it.

Hello! You don't necessarily have diabetes, don't be scared yet. You should go see a doctor regarding this, get some tests like glucose tolerance test, the A1C test and more. Your doctor will guide you through this. I, myself, encountered these problems when I wasn't eating properly, like one meal a day or too much processed food ( bad carbs mostly). Our body needs glucose to function as it should, especially the brain. When you have a low intake of glucose, the brain sends a signal to the body to produce it from other sources. Till that happens, you can experience those symptoms you talked about. Bad carbs, on the other side, can produce insulin spikes that cause the same symptoms. It is a complex process, but let's just say bad carbs make your glucose level grow fast and the body produces too much insulin, which lead to hypoglycemia. Regardless, the best is to see an endocrinologist who can recommend whatever suits you the best.
