Working finishing before 80 but after 40 days

What does happen to a working if done longer then 40 days but finished before the next 40 days cicle (80 days)?

Is the 40 days like a safepoint, so if for example one does end it on the 55 days it is (first 40 days are) fully integrated like done 40 days and endet, but the additional 15 days are not (looked at each singel day) as much effective then if it would have been done 80 days.

I want to understand how important is the 40 day cicle and how it affects a working.

You would have one permanent cycle and the rest is more temporary in nature. The permanent cycle can be reinforced, but the temporary part when gone, is gone.
