Opening the Wings is vital. The wings are the most capable part of your being for drawing energy. Without them your soul will not progress very fast nor far. You have six in total. I have seen Satan's Wings and I have to say the inspired me to open my own and if my memory serves me correct I believe I was meditating with Satan when mine opened.

Once your wings have been opening you can use them to breathe in energy. But to a much higher degree and when you become strong enough in this practice it becomes and innate aspect of your soul. Meaning that you will consistently draw in energy.
It's important that you open and have a healthy throat chakra before you begin this meditation as without it you will not progress as easily.
When opening the wings start with the upper wings and then the middle set and finally the lower two. This goes along with the direction of energy in the throat which is the Primary chakra that the wings extend from.
The part about "flapping" your wings on the meditation page is important because it gives you a feeling for them which is needed to use them.
