Time

You should meditate any amount that is healthy for you as an individual. There are people in the world that spend nearly the entirety of their time in meditation, while others spend only a few minutes. Personally I believe that you should dedicate anywhere between ten minutes to an hour for meditation throughout the day. At the bare minimum purifying the aura along with the chakra, and also meditating on energy flow between the spiritual bodies. I don't believe you should spend so much time meditating that it causes interference with other aspects of your life, such as: work, schooling, and socializing. Having a healthy state of being also includes activities outside of meditation, so as long as your allotting a reasonable amount of time for other things than you should be fine.

I get this question alot from friends of mine: "*How do you prevent
yourself from falling asleep while meditating?". *

I suggested not to lay down while meditating, and also use of kundalini
yoga positions...

A rubber band pulled too hard will snap and it'll hurt.

A rubber band hardly pulled at all will not serve it's purpose.

A rubber band pulled just right will.

When you've meditated too much, you'll know.

HAIL SATAN!
