Surya and Sun

Hello everyone!
You all know the SURYA mantra which can be used to clean the aura. By doing some personal research on the web, I have discovered that SURYA can also be used to invoke the powers ruled by the Sun. For example success and honor. However, as usual, I don't trust much sources outside JoS, so I would like to ask you if what I have read is true. Can I use Surya to invoke the energy of the Sun? Another question I had is this: if Surya is the mantra for the Sun, I believe, for example, the Mangala mantra is for Mars, Budha for Mercury, Chandra for the Moon, Brhaspati for Jupiter, is it true? Are they the mantras to invoke the energy of the seven planets?

Yes you can use the surya mantra to invoke energy from the sun. Most effectivly it will be to be in the sunlight and do the mantra while visualising the energy from sun coming in your soul.
