I started a Mars Square during the planetary hour of Mars yesterday, though because I didn't have any privacy, I only whispered the mantra and didn't vibrate it fully.

I still felt the energy and directed it towards my goal, though I'm still not sure whether I messed it up or not, should I continue with the square?

I realized after I did the second square with full, loud vibrations. Looks like my affirmation wasn't detailed enough, got in trouble because of it.

Yes, continue it. Try to visualize the red energies of Mars on your aura while doing it too, as it will help with compensating for the lack of strongly vibrating the mantra. You can tell us the results in the future.

Whispering is fine as long as its still aloud imo. With planetary squares just do not skip a day or miscount the reps for that day or the entire working will be ruined. I have started mars squares also. What i do with planetary squares is draw the square out on paper and write the affirmation i want to use with it and draw a colored line that goes in the direction of the sequence i am to follow based on the type of square as i have messed up before. When i recite the number of reps i am supposed to for that day i cross it out on the paper. This should help you also keep track
