Greetings everyone,

I am creating this post again in the form of a poll so that we can get a proper vote.

As some of you may have noticed, the new JoS Rituals website has undergone some changes. The website was completely rebuilt using simpler technologies, making it perform much better on most devices. We did our best to maintain the original design that everyone loved.

The website will no longer be slow, and you can use it anywhere. With that said, we want to ask everyone's opinion on whether or not we should officially stop updating the old one and solely use the new one.

Known issues with the new site which should be fixed soon:
  • The third rune may escape the container on some screens sizes.
  • There are some issues with the small button in the bottom right corner.
Feel free to report any issues that you experience.

Let us know your thoughts below, and we will take everyone's opinion in consideration. Thank you.

I think the old website has run its course enough, and should no longer be updated. It simplifies our work, and from what I have been told by other important members, they do not use the old website anymore.

In the past I still regularly used the old website, because I preferred the old format and got used to that, but with all the improvements and updates made to the new JoS rituals site, I haven't used the old rituals site since the new year.

I agree with JG ApolloAbove that the old JoS rituals site has run its course and the new site can fully take over.

I agree with the above. Our focus should be on the new, not the old. We need to stop focusing on the past and how things were, and rather focus on the new, on growing and evolving our platforms. This is like anything else in life; when you acquire a new skill, for example, it's flawed, but by targeting what is not right, you can become exponentially better and you will eventually look back and feel happy to be a better version of yourself.

Thank you very much. You have done the greatest work with the new website, and you have solved all of the problems that I had.

The new website will very soon be perfect. And I expect most people will experience no problems with it.

I will not vote because I don't want to make you keep working on updating an old version that is no longer necessary. But if there are people who are depending on the old one, I don't want to take that away from them. If it would not be too difficult and not take too much time, I think it would be good to keep the old one for the people who are still using it. But I also think the new one is good enough and does not have any problems anymore, so that there should be no reason why they can't use the new one.

I heard that a big reason for the old one is it is easier for translators to work with and translate. I don't know much about this whether the code is simpler to edit, or if it is for other reasons. But if a solution is made easier for translators, then maybe the old one would not be necessary.

Maybe just a plain text to copy and paste of Paragraph 1, Paragraph 2, Paragraph 3, for however many sections there are between runes. And have each of these in a seperate plain text to copy and paste to be translated. Then plug the translated versions back into where they need to go.

I have been using the old version because the new one slowed down the screen movement on the PC.
But if with the new improvements it does not happen anymore I prefer to use the new one again.

Give it a try, we specifically updated the new one to be as fast as the old one.

Thank you very much for your work, now it does not happen anymore and it is a delight to use it.

It looks like many people have changed their minds since this question was lust put up a few days ago, so I'm in support of discontinuing the old site.

My suggestion is that there be a warning in the old site about it being outdated, and a link to the new site. The "Old JoS Rituals" tab should also be removed or changed to something else in the main JoS site.

The New one is great indeed and your work was very good but what shall we do when we have scheduled and the new one is down, I have downloaded All the rituals already.

The new one is set to be updated to archive.org automatically, so when the site goes down, it will show you an archived copy instead. This means that the site is technically "always online."

I preferred the old one for a while because of issues with the new version but now I think it's safe to retire it.

The only reason I can think to keep it would be for people with weak/obsolete machines, but I think just about everyone on the internet now should be able to view the new pages just fine, even in poor countries. The old JOS was built for a different era and that was forever ago in the timeline of technology.

If there is a need for the legacy version in the future then it should be easy enough to automate the generation of these pages anyway.

I'm on the same boat with Ol argedco luciftias. I didn't know any reason why anyone would rather use the old one besides looks but he mentioned one and if that's the only reason then it's better not to so we don't have anyone left behind or cause them troubles. If everyone can have no problem with the new one then I would vote yes.

I use old because I like it as it is. Please keep old as it is if you can.

I have been using the new one ever since it was released it. I'm in favour of getting rid of the old one, if everyone agrees.

Regarding the top right buttons, I assume you mean the ones to "checkmark" the section. I believe that button should be at the bottom right instead. It would make it more mobile-friendly, in my opinion.

I've just see the thread...

I observe how is developped the joyofsatan sites and would like enhance the old pages and the menubar, it's long and difficult.
Your new methods are by far better than the old one which should be abandonned and independently redesigned to match with the new one.

There is just a point for the rituals, the titles "Affirm" and "Vibrate" are not enclosed in a tag and glued against the svg :
Code:
        <div class="ritual-container-runes">
            <div class="ritual-container-header">
                <div class="ritual-container-vibrate-left">
                    <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 24 24" fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="3" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" class="lucide-icon lucide lucide-zap "><polygon points="13 2 3 14 12 14 11 22 21 10 12 10 13 2"></polygon></svg>
                    Vibrate
                </div>
                <button class="completed-Button innactive">Complete</button>
                <div class="gradient-overlay"></div>

            </div>
<!-- ... -->
        </div>

You may use a <h5> or <h6> in this case, and declare :
Code:
.ritual-container-vibrate-left h5 {
  display: inline-block;
  padding-left: .5em;
}

If each words and sentences are tagged, it's possible to extract them to substitute them - for translations.
The work flow would be more efficient because the layout is made only one time and page would be translatable - it's my obsession...

And in the footer :
Code:
        <div class="footer-links">
            <a class="links" href="https://josrituals.org/article/about.html">About</a>
            <a class="links" href="https://josrituals.org/article/contributor.html">Contributors</a>
            <a class="links" href="https://josrituals.org/article/releases.html">Releases</a>
            <a class="links" href="https://josrituals.org/article/contact.html">Contact</a>
        </div>
Links are glued, you may append something like
Code:
div.footer-links>a {
  padding: .2em 1em;
}
in the style sheet.

Another stuff, if guardians had their own subforum, we could track your announces like we can track "Important Articles from JoS Ministry" to translate sermons.
