Dear brothers and sisters. I have some negative character traits that I would like to get rid of.

First, I have a habit of comparing myself to others. I very often think about the fact that someone else has achieved greater success than me, for example, my friends, acquaintances, cousins and others.

The second - most likely this follows from the first - I have a habit of being envious of others. For example, I may feel uncomfortable emotionally if my close friend becomes more successful than me. Although I understand that this is wrong and I should be happy for my friend, something from the inside makes me feel uncomfortable.

And the third. I seem to be very dependent on the opinions of others. It's like I'm looking for the approval of those around me and I'm afraid to appear as a failure in their eyes.

I would like to get rid of these traits and feel emotionally free from it, because it prevents me from fully concentrating on more important things, such as spiritual development and finding my true path. I would like you to advise me some effective meditation that would help me in this. I express my deep gratitude in advance to those who can help me ...

You’ve got to look at yourself as someone who is entirely individual and like nobody else, therefore it’s irrational entirely to compare yourself to someone else. It’s good you recognize these things. Loving yourself for who you are and knowing yourself will help. I’ve never been envious much, but in a relationship if jealousy or insecurity occurs where someone is comparing themselves to another person it’s easy at least for me to combat it with that reasoning. No two relationships are alike, no two people are the same, and there’s no such thing as better or worse in certain scenarios. Just DIFFERENT. For things you can’t change, view yourself as different and not better or worse.

Try some self confidence and esteem issues with SOL and UR runes. SOL can help with independence in thought and spirit too, so that you’re not looking at everything through someone else’s eyes.

I can talk about my experience with being envious.. usually this feeling disappears after you begin to discover yourself as a person. How? You guessed, meditations :D. Understand that everyone is unique and the only person you can compare to is yourself. Something like the past you vs present you and what you can achieve in the future. Also, you’re a SS and they’re not.. come on that’s great in itself, the journey just started.
You said you feel uncomfortable emotionally if your friend is more successful.. Can’t that be a way to motivate yourself to do better? Maybe you’re a competitive person and that’s it..just be careful about being in extremes and ugly behavior.
As for an effective meditation.. perhaps you need to tackle something else than enviousness. Like what are the particular reasons you feel like that towards someone? If that persons has more money for example you may want to do a working to attain money.
I hope I helped you a little

When you grow, physically, mentally and spiritually such things will fall off like leaves from trees during autumn.

True for the most part especially with proper meditation. It can waver back and forth though, at times getting worse if it’s something deeply embedded and needs directly worked through. Can’t go wrong having all bases covered. I’m inclined to believe deep insecurities and self troubles are the cause of a lot of failures and exacerbate risk of going nuts if not the cause of a person going nuts on a mental/emotional level.

I also envy people. But I don’t believe that they don’t deserve it, I just want it as well. So this feeling motivates me to work harder. I am still happy for those people.

If you envy them, work on yourself.
You can use it in a positive way as well.

The problem is internal. A lack of self love and acceptance. Do you have any trauma issues from experiences in your childhood or this life in general? Past life trauma can cause the same.

Keep cleaning your soul without fail and these feelings will fade away in a matter of months or perhaps a few years.

I feel like I needed to hear this. I've never struggled much with envy, but rather a bit of the opposite: I often compared myself to people that I and others look down on, and worried if maybe I'm a bit similar to them and whether or not others would place me in the same category as them.
I tried reassuring myself by saying I'm my own individual and that I have nothing to do with anyone I look down on. But that didn't work well because I worried if it was delusional to think I'm different somehow.
To hear it from someone really helped. I always know at heart that I'm only doing what I believe are the right things, so there's no need for me to compare myself to others just because they happen to do one or two similar things. As long as I, as an individual, am doing my best, there's no reason to hate myself, no matter what anyone else does.

I may give SOL a try sometime and see if that helps too. Thank you.

Sweet thank you for considering these words too, your differences are something to take complete pride in. There’s a little song called The Anthem by Good Charlotte, I blast that song if I feel like I’m trying to be someone I’m not  Also, if someone is better at something than I am and it’s something that I do, I just take inspiration from it and let competitive feelings drive me to do better. But not too much. I like to just stay in my own lane.
