eBay removes Jeffrey Dahmer Halloween costumes after victim's mother heartbroken

Popular selling website eBay has condemned the selling of Jeffrey Dahmer Halloween outfits and items, going on to remove various listings by manufacturers and sellers.

It is said that these costumes violate eBay's official sales policy, which bars listings from being closely associated with violent felons over the last 100 year period. The surge in popularity of Dahmer costumes comes just weeks after streaming service Netflix released an eight piece series revolving around the twisted life and sickening crimes of the killer dubbed the Milwaukee Cannibal - with sellers hoping to profit; however, the e-commerce site is fighting back against sellers who are trying to flog Halloween attire related to the notorious serial killer, whose crimes took place between June 1978 and July 1991.

A spokesperson from eBay confirmed to Chronicle Live that the site is removing all Dahmer related costumes from its market place. In a statement, they said, "These items are prohibited for sale on our site and we are removing them."

eBay’s official policy states that 'items closely associated with or that benefit violent felons, their acts, or crime scenes within the past 100 years' are not prohibited from sale - with Dahmer falling into the bracket with his notorious crimes starting just 44 years ago.

All items thought to violate eBay's policy are currently being removed. This revelation comes a short time after the mother of Tony Hughes - Dahmer's twelfth victim - spoke out about how she could not believe that the popular Netflix series was allowed to be made to begin with, quoting various inaccuracies in the plot itself.

'Monster - the Jeffrey Dahmer Story' was put together by horror auteur Ryan Murphy, who created the massively popular American Horror Story. Within its first week of airing, it accrued over 196.2 million hours of watch time, making it the most-viewed programme ever within seven days of launching.

I sincerely hate this whole Dahmer “trend”, I couldn’t get past the first couple episodes. How so many can watch this as if it is something fiction and be so detached to the fact that the victims families have to see and hear this garbage everywhere, people talking about it again, making comments.

Interesting that it’s by the same creator of AHS. AHS is another one of those that I stopped watching halfway through the first season. There is something very ill about AHS. But I’ll admit that I thought it was interesting.

Errol Lindsey was 19 years old when he was killed by Dahmer on 7 April 1991. He was survived by five siblings and a partner who was pregnant at the time of his death. The daughter of Mr Lindsey, 31-year-old Tatiana Banks, told Insider that "honestly ever since that show's been on I haven’t been able to sleep. "Errol wasn't the type to talk to just anybody. He went to work and then he came home. He was a mama's boy. He wouldn't even go out with his friends without calling me to see what I was doing", she added.

Ms Lindsey told the Associated Press at the time that it was as if her son "just vanished from the world. He didn't deserve this", Ms Banks told Insider earlier this month. "I don't deserve this. None of the victims deserve it."
