I'm already meditating as the last thing I do before bed and my dreams are still weird or even unpleasant. What are general tips or workings to improve dream quality?
Is there something in your life that you are experiencing that can be the cause of disturbing dreams? Maybe stress or something like that? For example, I often dream about the girl I love, especially when I miss her, because she works a lot even out of town, my brain tries to compensate for this lack by making me dream about her spending time with me.
A similar thing happened when I was a victim of a toxic love for a girl from high school that she (the new girl I love) helped me get over. The bad and toxic situation meant that when I tried to get rid of it, I had dreams about her in which I looked for her, etc.
Sometimes it can be that in order to solve our dreams we have to act on what happens to us in our waking state. I was often a victim of some bad behaviors and my brain made me dream the extreme of my behaviors. For example, the days when I was a victim of sweets, I dreamed of gorging myself on all kinds of sugary junk food, etc. vice versa, when I was adopting a good conduct in my life and there were no problems to worry about, then it made me dream of the good things that could come from my existence. Etc.
See if there is a problem in your life that needs to be solved. Consider using these techniques to gain more control over your dreams. 90% of my dreams are lucid and I have the ability to wake up on command or alter the flow of the dream at will. And before you go to bed, start an affirmation. Begin this on the Pisces New Moon this Sunday before the VoC, or the Taurus Moon next Wed/Thurs, or the Cancer Moon on the 18. As you lie in bed ready for sleep, breath in indigo or blue energy (silver if you are more experienced, but avoid silver if you are new as it might be gray instead which malefic). On the exhale affirm something like "I am having vivid dreams and remembering all the details, in beneficial ways for me."

Personally, I would advise you first to follow her advice about the personal journal and write down everything you dream. I say this because you could, through the memory of the dream, understand if there is something in your life that you need to work on.
This is not through dream divination or other things that are difficult at the beginning that can lead Satanists astray and get into trouble, etc. but very often if you understand what you are dreaming you can still associate it with a problem in your life that you can work on. I do not need to divine the symbolism of my dreams about ingesting as much sugar as possible to understand the meaning and spiritual/divinatory advice. But I can understand if I write a personal journal in which I remember the dream that in my life there is a problem with sweets and sugary foods that I need to solve.
