Do you believe in a hell?

Ok it comes down to this (havn't posted on here a long while btw) I've been watching and reading a lot about heaven and people 'going' there after brain function ceased, I've also seen a documentary about people who were on their way to some hot, dark, hopeless etc place that they interpreted as being hell. My own personal thoughts were hell would to be stuck in the worst time you ever had in your life, going through it over and over again without ever getting 'used' to it or knowing your stuck in an afterlife that's totally merciless, but now i'm not so sure. I dont know if this question has already been posted, guess i should have searched but ive written it now sooo...what do you think?  Ps I know we'll never know until we get wherever we go, or go nowhere but I would like others thoughts on it ;-) Thanks

What happens to atheists (in the afterlife)? I ask because I am technically an atheist.
