However, after a "cultural revolution," the ban was lifted and the communist government heavily promoted the chicken blood therapy. And people are still doing it now. They are injecting their kids with this!

Here are more articles about this. All you need to do is search chicken blood therapy on any search engine (not chinese search engines I assume they'll be heavily censored). Proper medical studies have also been conducted. I don't know why you are trying to dismiss this as a proverb when it is so in the literal sense.
