Breathing and Squares

When one vibrates the Squares do you take one breath for each repetition of the mantra or one breath for each word?

I.e.

1.

[Breathe, Exhale] AUM HRAAM HRIM HRAUM SAU SURYAE SVAHA/NAMA...

Or

2.

[Breathe, Exhale] AUM [Breathe, Exhale] HRAAM [Breathe, Exhale] HRIM [Breathe, Exhale] HRAUM [Breathe, Exhale] SAU [Breathe, Exhale] SURYAE [Breathe, Exhale] SVAHA/NAMA...

2 is extremely powerful but will also take an extreme amount of time, I.e if your timing at a count of 5 for example the inhale/exhale cycle.

Both will work but the more you enunciate the stronger the square will be.
