Should spiritual or material square be used, and which sign is better?

Material.
Consult the ToZ calendar. When you do a Square, the moon phase is not of such extreme importance. But you can always consult the calendar. Watch out for retrograde planets.

Are you sure? Weren't health issues directly correlated to the soul, hence the fix must target the spiritual plane?

For healing, spiritual square. Material squares are for the physical realm, but healing is spiritual since it's using spiritual energy to heal. Whereas material would be to, say, get something physical that will help, such as eyeglasses. Which you don't need to do a square for, this is just an example.

Interestingly, I did a spiritual Sun square for overall health improvement, and it resulted in me getting laser eye surgery for next to no cost. Magick takes the route it is able to, and you need to be open to possibilities.

May I ask if the same argument then applies with things like intelligence (understood precisely as the ability to reason, not study), athletic ability, and emotional states? Thank you very much. Well, athletic ability requires physical actions and movement which would fall under the category of material. To be honest I would say why not do both spiritual and material for improving the body such as exercise, because it can potentially bring various opportunities that one might not have initially considered.

Intelligence is in the soul, so yes, spiritual. Emotions too, spiritual.

And of course remember that other things can happen. Nearly every time I do a spiritual Venus square, someone gives me a gift card to a clothing store, or buys me clothes. The squares can have nice side effects

Concerning the part I quoted from your reply... can you believe that I was YEARS, and I mean almost 8 years, not two or three, telling myself that I was spiritually a failure just because I kept getting the wrong kind of Square and then getting the wrong kind of manifestation? I thank you for responding to this thread.

Really, what you said explains why I could heal using people's auras even from serious ailments or attract money to me just by programming my aura, but I could never improve other people's feelings and such. This seemingly insignificant mistake gave me trauma and paranoia where every time I even tried to vibrate in my chakras I would interrupt myself saying, "This will never work. Just like this didn't work here and there"

Today I find out that it was not proof of anything, but I had just been wrong square. As usual you did a lot to help me and I really thank you.

You do a square to improve other people's feelings? Their feelings are their own, it's how they are. If someone's feeling badly and you'd like to help, try Wunjo rune, not a square, but we can't really do much for someone else's feelings or emotions.

The squares possibly can't be used on others anyway because the power from them, their chakras need to be open, and energy needs to be free enough.

I am currently doing a Material Sun Square for improving physical vitality, energy levels and sleep quality.

Is this a waste of time? My sun is debilitated but I have good Mars/Jupiter placements for the body. I just wanted to sleep less hours.

It's probably not a waste of time, as it will likely have good effects regardless. And after you complete it, you ca do it again with the spiritual square. It will be fine in Taurus to do this, and/or you can do it when Sun is in Leo. Tune in and see how you feel from the square so far, if you're feeling good, then continue with it.
