Hello. What can I do to protect my child ?

Other than Aura protection meditations.. for physical things…Can I carve Algiz rune on a piece of Saraca Asoka Tree wood to make a pendant for the child?
Or,
Can I tie knots(how many knots) on a black thread or give the black thread a shape of Shenu Ring ?
