Old games especially between 1986 and around 2004 seem to have some real quality in regards to music and a meditative feeling. I am not promoting video games as they can be a massive distraction. However, it is interesting to hear some of the music and atmospheric feels of older games before the big (corporations) bought them up. Super Mario (1986), Spyro the Dragon (epic meditative music), Syphon Filter (conspiracy elements and dual citizen operating agencies), Final Fantasy up to 10, Rome Total War (and Europa Barbarorum 1) information on temples like Baal, Herkules, Dionyses, Jupiter, Juno, ISIS). Zelda Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Tomb Raider (1996 first game) (Epic woman hero in spiritual tombs attempting to complete feats in a dream like spiritual reality or real life test by the Gods) to name a few. The creative imagination by the older small teams of game programmers was astonishing to say the least.

Video game can be art. When something is created with passion and well thought form it becomes art. The old video games use to be created for purposes of making something great. There were also a lot hardware limitations that forced brilliant engineering. There was a mix of art and science. Its okay play video games just don't be consumed by them. You can always listen to podcasts, audio books, or something useful in the background.

If you know esoteric things, you will see references in many games and media. Ancient races of beings, forms of magic, tales based on greek/roman/etc mythology.. map/city designs with remnants of things from ancient civilizations. It still exists in today's games, but is more common in RPGs. I never saw the stuff as a kid, but it was fascinating to be older and to know more, and to be able to notice and point out certain things. Good stuff!
